I love The Beatles :D

John Lennon speaks the truth. I don't believe there's such a thing as wasting time. If you enjoy sitting around doing nothing, then that's one more moment of life that was ENJOYED. If you have to "waste time" to be happy, it's worth it.

According to the bible, sloth is sin. In other words, if you enjoy being lazy and not doing anything, you're going to Hell! What's up with that?

I hate that there are so many rules that come with life. Why can't we just live and be happy? If everyone just focused on their own lives, I think the world would be at peace. You might think that's just being selfish, but in the end, people like doing things for others, it makes them happy. Everything ties in. And if you don't enjoy doing selfless things, well, it's your life, why should I care?

I think people tend to take life too seriously. We put so much into the littlest things, and if they don't go our way, we freak. Sometimes you just have to take a step back and think, is this seriously important? Am I really going to even remember this in 5/10 years? Life is full of mistakes; make the most of them. Go with it.

It's okay to take things slow sometimes. I mean, I'm all for live each day like it's your last, but I also think that I most likely have a whole life ahead of me, unless of course ( knock on wood) something terrible happens. I actually try to enjoy the present, not stress over the future. Sometimes stress is inevitable, but that's only because of the standards society has set for the world. Why is it such a bad thing to be care-free sometimes?

So I know this might be a little more serious than my other few posts but...I was just thinking. It was just something I kind of needed to get out. I think about this a lot. So feel free to comment, tell me what you think! Or don't. Whatever :) And remember, time you enjoy wasting, is not wasted. Ah, I love John Lennon. And Paul McCartney. And Ringo Starr. And don't forget George Harrison! :)

Sincerely (and tiredly) yours,
Lyss <3

Ah summer. Sweet, sweet summer! Three more "wake-up" days and it's here :) YES!

Soooo. The latest in Alyssa news: Got a total sun burn, pretty stressed out for finals/ grades, and completely and totally STOKED for summer!

Ok. First off, the sun burn. Rarely gotten but often dreaded.

I, being the really just SMART person I am, decided to put on sun tan lotion half an hour before I went to the water park, and never put it on again. Well...We were at the water park for 3+ hours. No sun tan lotion + 90 degree sun= RED!

So now I am so burned it hurts to be typing this right now. Not to mention, I stupidly let slip that I am sun burned, and let's just say: people can be really mean sometimes :/ And now, my sun burn hurts even worse. Thank Goodness for aloe vera!

Then there's the whole stressed out thing. Stress is exhausting.

If you know me, then you probably know that there's no such thing as a "B" on a report card in my house. "B's" are unheard of. It's straight "A's" or bust.

So when you have an 89% in biology and the only assignment left is the FINAL, it's a little bit overwhelming. So there's that.

To top that off, I have like, a 90.2% in Spanish at the moment so I'm pretty much depending on an A on that final to keep the A grade. I just absolutely LOVE that feeling.

Then there are the "extra curriculars." Last night I was totally freaking out about these little card-type-things I sort of offered to do for my English teacher, being the nice person I am(meaning I find it REALLY hard to say no sometimes).

I just barely finished those in time. Like litterally maybe 5 minutes before I had to turn them in.

But moving on to a lighter subject, SUMMER! The best time of the year, right? Well, in my opinion at least.

I am so incredibly freaking excited, I can't put it into words. No school, no drama, no stress just...summer. Fun. Freedom.

What's not to love about that?

Okie dokie, well it's time for me to go now. Wish me luck on my finals!

Sincerely,

Lis :)

Memorial Day Weekend

Hey there :) Long time no post, I know. I'm a busy girl.

So a few things happened this weekend. Nothing major, I assure you. Nothing like my first post. ;)

Well the weekend started off as any other weekend does, except my mom happened to be sick. So I, being a good daughter, took care of her :) I made dinner, brought her tea, gave her medicine. Sounds fun, right?...............

By the time Sunday gets here, I'm totally ready to actually DO something, you know? So after I help set up for a friend's Quinceanera, I get a couple new outfits, okay, so like two new Beatles shirts(I couldn't resist!), and a bathing suit even. Oh, did I mention I'm determined to get an awesome tan? (It's not going so great.)

So then one of my bff's, Keanna, came over. I tried to get Steph and Olivia to come over, but it didn't work out, lol :/
Anyways, Keanna comes over, we eat, we do our hair. Now what?

BOWLING! Duh, right?

Okay so then, after picking up Sarah, another friend of course, we gate crash a little bowling get together at Delta Bowl.

Except, it was Sunday. Well, the bowling alley closes at 11pm on Sunday, and we got there at like 10:24pm.

Bummer. Whatever.

So we just hung out in the parking lot for a little bit, but not before me and Keanna got a spare!

Heck yes! :D

We rock at bowling.

Anyways. We head home, after only being gone like an hour. Oh well!

Once we get home we decide to go to bed early so we can wake up earlier.

Yeah, uhhhh, we ended up going to bed at like 2:30am and waking up at like 10am. Oops!

Haha. Well once we got ourselves up, I made some killer chocolate chip pancakes :) They were pretty freakin' delicious if I do say so myself!

Then we get a tan, or at least Keanna does (I tried...and failed).

After that, we walk down to rite-aid and get ice-cream cones and i found 99 cent eyeliner! Yes, 99 cents. Obviously I had to get it. And it's not even that crappy! SCORE :)

So after hanging out in like the ghetto-est store everrrr, we walk back to my place. After looking through my parents' old year books we go on my trampoline, where Keanna flings my "acid-trip" bracelet over the fence! :0 Haha, on accident of course. Bye-bye bracelet...lol.

And that's basically how my weekend went down. Nothing life-altering, but then again, it is ME.

Sorry my life is so boring right now,

Lis.

P.s. - I promise, I'm gonna get a life. Anyone know a good place to find one?

Hey fellow bloggers. Haven't blogged in a while. Wow, that sounds really weird. Blog's a funny word :D

Anywho, I thought I would blog about school being over in 9 freakin days! That's just crazy. I can't believe it. It's all very bittersweet.

On one hand, I am totally psyched for summer! I lalalalalove summer. Like, I get unbelievably happy when summer-time comes. Although where I live the weather isn't acting very summer-ish right now. :P

But then there's the whole "a quarter of my high school career is over" crap. When I get to think about that, it's pretty sad. Nothing overly exciting happened this year, nothing good anyways. Life goes by so fast. I wish time went by slower sometimes.

And so many things are going to change, I just know it. I'm not exactly the biggest fan of change, it kind of scares me, to tell the truth. For instance, today my science teacher got rid of this old, half broken, dirty couch.

Now some people were like, "Oh, finally he got rid of that thing." But it kind of made me sad, and that's not just because that was my unofficial seat in class. Our lunch group made a lot of memories on that couch, no joke. That couch was like the reason we all ate in their at lunch. Now that couch is in a dumpster. Whatever.

So now all that's left are the memories that will probably fade in time. I might not even remember than couch in 20, 30 years. But I think that's the reason I like blogging. Because years from now, I will still be able to look back at this and reminisce about my "crazy" high school troubles and laugh at how over-dramatic I was/am.

Geez, I feel like I should be in Drama because I make everything so dramatic. ;)

Well I geuss I just have to accept the change and focus on the present, not the past. That's sort of my motto, I geuss I need to start actually following it.

I geuss I'll stop rambling now, since the only one who's gonna read this is probably me lol.

Bye guys,
Lis<3

Flan/ Churros - May 22/23 2010

Ok so you guys already know about the project i have to do in Spanish right? Well we have to make a spanish/ mexican food and videotape how to make it. You also have to say EVERYTHING in Spanish. So...It was rather difficult.

But geuss what?!? Churro attempt #2 was a SUCCESS! Yay :)

Flan on the other hand...Flan is so freaking hard to make!

We spent about 20 minutes scraping dried caramel off of a caserole dish...at 1am.

Yes, we decided to make flan at one o'clock in the morning.

Because we're cool like that...or so we thought.

I video taped mine, it was pretty dang fun, and i bet everyone in my spanish class is gonna crack up at the end :)

But by the time we started to make flan, we were pretty much pooped out. So we are postponing the end until tomorrow...or really later today, aha.

Alrighty well i'm soooo tired right now i can barely keep my eyes focused on the screen haha.

Peace,
Lis

Life Sucks Sometimes.

SO. You guys probably don't know this, but i have a thing about texting in to radio contests. I literally listen to the radio as much as possible to see when the next contest will be.

Well a little over a month ago, i won tickets to Warped Tour! It's this really big concert with like 30 bands and i am suppperrr excited :)

Anyways, today i text in at 7pm to win tickets to BFD, another really big concert. And if you win this one, you also get three day passes to disneyland/ca adventure, seaworld, universal studios, and the san diego zoo. So i text in a couple of times, just for fun. Well i texted in just twice, and i won! Crazy right? I was smiling so big my jaw hurt.

So the radio station calls me up a little while later, they ask me for all my info. Well, I'm not over 18, obviously, so my mom has to give verification or whatever for me to go to this concert. So while they're on the phone with my mom, I hear her say, "Oh no". And i'm like "Ohhh Crap".

Well it turns out you can't win tickets to more than one concert within 60 days of each other.

..........................................................................................................................................................................0

They might as well have ripped my beating heart out.

I was seriously devastated, not to mention my mom who was like "Woo, free Disneyland tickets!"

Ugh so all that for NOTHING. Life dissapoints sometimes. It's crazy how something can be taken away from you so soon after it's given to you.

Luckily in my case, it was just a silly pair of concert tickets. Man, life can seriously suck sometimes. I guess you just have to focus on the positives.

Well that's all for now,
Lis<3

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

Hey there, this is my first time blogging. I thought today's story would be an appropriate start to my blogging career.

So, today me and my friend Olivia were hanging out. My house gets pretty boring, there was absolutely NOTHING to do. So we decide to get a head start on our Spanish project. We have to make an authentic Spanish food and video tape it. So we think of churros, of course.

Okay, so we've found the recipe, it looks DELICIOUS, and my mom is about to leave to go shopping. PERFECT! Or at least, that's what I thought.

We get everthing prepared, print the recipe out, make sure we have everything. The mission is GO.

The second, and i mean the second, my mom shuts the door behind her, we take action. We make the dough, we start frying the churros, everything is going great. We sprinkle them with cinnamon and they taste awesome. We hear something outside, but I was sure it wasn't my mom; I live on a busy street so I'm kind of used to weird noises. But then Olivia looks outside. "Uhhhhh Alyssa, it IS your mom!"

Aw crap!

Okay, so we take evasive action and go into clean-up mode. We put the dishes in the sink, dump the churros, and start wiping down the counters. Whew, I thought, we're fer sure gonna make it.

By now the only thing left is the big pot of EXTREMELY HOT OIL we used for frying. So we put that in the sink too.

Well, the water was running from me doing the other dishes.

Let's just say cold water and 360 degree oil...they don't mix so well.

BANG! The oil starts popping and exploding all over the entire kitchen.

Oil's on everything, it's even on the ceiling, not to mention hot grease is shooting at us and we almost got burned.

So, inevitably, my mom walks in the kitchen. She doesn't say anything at first, she hasn't realized it yet. Then she comments on the funny smell. Uh yeah, that would just be burnt oil...

So then she realizes that oil is literally EVERYWHERE. Keep in mind, my mom was exhausted and she had told me and Olivia she barely had enough energy to go to the store. So imagine her surprise when she has to clean up a completely soiled kitchen. Of course, Olivia and I tried to do most of the cleaning, but let's be honest, 15 year olds aren't exactly known for their cleaning skills.

So now, I am on "chore duty" for the next couple of weeks. Lucky me.

I just love my crazy life.
